Friday follow up 12/16/11
Today’s Friday follow up is an update on the sculpture, “Searching for days gone by”.
We got it back from the foundry the other day, and it looks great. Al went to the foundry when it was ready for the patina to make sure it was exactly what he wanted. There are so many elements to this piece, that it’s very important to make sure it all blends and works together.
Creating the sculpture in clay is just the beginning. The rest of the creative process happens in the foundry, when it’s time to apply the patina. We are lucky in that the foundry we take all the sculptures to, has a great patina person. He is an artist himself, and knows his craft very well. We are thrilled with the way everything looks on this fantastic piece.
“Searching for days gone by” is a sculpture of a Native American who is longing for, and looking for the way of life he knew. The days when hunting the bison was a sacred right, and they were plentiful on the plains. Days when life was simpler, and everyone had respect for Mother Earth. He is prepared for the hunt with his bow and quiver full of arrows. To bring him extra guidance on his journey, he is wearing his own personal medicine bundle.
“Searching for days gone by”, is the perfect companion piece to the sculpture “Listen”.
Please visit the Sculpture page for pricing and dimensions on this and all the sculptures that Al has created.
