Newest bird sculptures
Al has been busy this summer creating some new sculptures. This first piece, “Hidden Wisdom”, was actually a piece he had done last year. Then, this past September we stopped in Cody, WY on our way to South Dakota. No trip to Cody is complete without a trip to the Buffalo Bill museum. We love the Plains Indian museum they have there. Since our last visit, they started a new program with raptors. Every afternoon they bring out one or two birds that are in their care. When we were there, they brought out a great horned owl, and a peregrine falcon. Al was thrilled they had the owl, and I took a ton of reference photos.
We had brought the owl sculpture with us, so while we were camped at Devils Monument he took some time and fine tuned him a little.
Nothing like having great photos, and the image fresh in your mind to really make him look great.
“Hidden Wisdom” is available as a precast. All the info is on the Sculpture page.
The next piece is one he did this summer while sculpting in The Grand Teton gallery in Jackson Hole.
The kestrel is life size, and she has a dragonfly friend on her back. The sculpture is 16″ x 10″. Usually Al is the sculptor, and I am the namer of the sculptures. But neither one of us can think of a good name for this piece. This piece is also available for precast sale.
Any suggestions for a name would be greatly appreciated, just leave a comment below.
